Franjo starts new project at Allegheny Center Alliance Church

Franjo Construction is honored and excited to be breaking ground soon on the Allegheny Center Alliance Church‘s (ACAC) Community Hub.

ACAC has been located in the North Side since 1911 and at its current location since 1950. In recent years, the church has expanded and that need continues. Operations, including that of Urban Impact, are currently run out of 4 existing, adjacent buildings between East Commons, East Ohio St, and Union Place.

The Hub will conjoin them and serve as a center; a heart; a “front porch.”

Plans include a “future phase” to allow for the ACAC to grow into the space and shift the way they use it accordingly.

Pieper O’Brien Herr Architects designed the project, and it has a special place in the heart of Architectural Designer Danielle Maritzer. She and her family attend church at the ACAC, and their children have had the opportunity to provide their input.

The building is estimated to be completed in the fall of 2022. It includes 5 floors and a total of about 43,310 SF.

In preparation for the groundbreaking, ACAC leadership put together a very special day of events, ending with a Ground Blessing ceremony.

Members of the church, community, design team, electrical team, and Franjo Construction enjoyed music, food, conversation, children’s activities, and lots of conversation on July 25, 2021. Following the activities which were set up in Allegheny Commons Park, everyone moved over to the parking lot where the future hub will be. ACAC leaders prayed for the success of the project and gave those in attendance an overview of their vision. Everyone in attendance was given an opportunity to get a photo with the shovels in the dirt to signify the project’s official kickoff.

Franjo hosted a job fair as part of the celebration, giving members of the congregation and community an opportunity to discuss open positions with Franjo HR.

Though the event is over, the job fair remains open for anyone interested in field positions. To learn about opportunities, visit our Careers Page or contact Zack Haines at zh@franjocc.com.
